- RJ House is a large family residence currently under construction in Cinfães, designed for a couple with two children.
The architecture already had a strong character, with a contemporary language heavily influenced by concrete, mineral finishes and clean volumes. The main challenge was therefore not to hide that identity, but to soften it and make the house feel warm, comfortable and lived-in — without losing the architectural strength of the original concept.
The interior was developed around a restrained palette of warm neutrals, textured stone, light natural wood and darker accents. Concrete-inspired surfaces remain present throughout the project, but are balanced with timber, soft fabrics, integrated lighting and carefully designed joinery to create a more welcoming atmosphere.
A strong emphasis was placed on custom-built furniture and integrated storage. Rather than filling the house with independent pieces, many elements were designed as part of the architecture itself: full-height wardrobes, concealed storage, built-in desks, continuous wall units and bespoke cabinetry that help maintain a clean and uninterrupted visual language.
The staircase became another important feature of the project. Its sculptural form reinforces the architectural character of the house while remaining visually light and connected to the surrounding spaces.
For the private areas, the atmosphere becomes softer and calmer. Bedrooms combine integrated storage, warm timber, subtle lighting and neutral textiles, while the bathrooms continue the same mineral palette through stone-effect surfaces, mirrors and concealed illumination.
Because the house was still under construction when the interior project was developed, every proposal had to consider the real architecture, technical constraints and execution from the beginning.
The result is a home where contemporary concrete-inspired architecture meets warmer, more tactile materials, creating a balance.
