- JA House — Torres Vedras, Portugal
JA House is a new-build residential project developed for a construction company as part of a turnkey property intended for sale.
Unlike a project created around the personal taste of a specific homeowner, the challenge here was different: to design an interior with enough character to stand out in the market, while remaining timeless, balanced and versatile enough to appeal to different future owners.
The concept was built around a warm and sophisticated neutral palette, combining light natural woods, soft stone textures, warm off-whites and carefully placed darker details. Rather than relying on strong colours or short-lived trends, contrast was created through materials, texture, depth and lighting.
Custom cabinetry and architectural elements were designed as part of the interior itself, helping connect the different areas of the house. Vertical timber details, integrated storage, softly rounded furniture, concealed lighting and black accents bring definition without making the spaces feel visually heavy.
One of the main ideas throughout the project was continuity. The kitchen, living areas and circulation spaces were designed to feel connected, using the same material language throughout while still allowing each area to have its own identity. The small internal landscaped area also became part of the composition, introducing greenery and creating a stronger relationship between architecture and interior design.
In the private areas, the same approach was carried through with a softer atmosphere. The main suite combines custom storage, integrated lighting, stone finishes and an open bathroom concept, creating a calm and refined environment while maintaining the overall language of the house.
Every element was designed with real construction in mind, from cabinetry dimensions and material transitions to lighting positions and furniture integration. The goal was not simply to create attractive visuals, but to develop an in
